Let Rs.x is invested that gives annual rate of interest 12% .

Let Rs.y is invested that gives annual rate of interest 14% .

Interest from investement that gives annual rate of interest 12% = (12/100) x

Interest from investement that gives annual rate of interest 14% = (14/100) y

Total interest = (12/100) x + (14/100) y = 4000

Total interest = 12 x + 14 y = 400000

By simplifying above expression, we get

6 x + 7 y = 200000
