Systolic blood pressure is the maximum pressure in the arteries when the heart contracts (beats) and pushes blood out into the body. In other words it is tghe pressure exerted on the walls of the arteries during the contraction phase of the heartbeat.
Diastolic pressure is the arterial blood pressure during the diastole phase of the cardiac cycle.
