Expert Answer:

(i)In Series , Total resistance, Rs =  ( 1 + 2 ) =3 ohm

                    Voltage                 = 6 v

                   current =  V / Rs  =   6 / 3 = 2 ampere ; across each resistor.

So, voltage across 2 ohm resistor = 2 x 2 = 4 v

Now, power = v2 / R

                     =  4/ 2 =8 w

(ii) In parallel , voltage across each resistor remains same i.e. 4v

so ,  power =  V2 / R =   4/ 2 =8 w.
