Epidermis is the outer epithelial layer of skin, made up primarily of dead cells, without nerve endings or blood vessels. They protect the underlying layers of skin. Epidermis is mainly composed of keratinocytes.
Epidermis is also present in the outermost layer of different parts of the plant like leaves, roots, stem etc.
