Coelomates are animals having a fluid filled body cavity called a coelom lined with peritoneum derived from mesoderm. Vertebrates are animals possessing a backbone or spinal column.
Coelomates may be chordates or non-chordates, but vertebrates are always chordates.
All vertebrates are coelomates but all coelomates are not vertebrates.
Coelomates include all phyla from Annelida onwards right till Chordata. Vertebrates include the ?mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fishes?.
