Can the angle of refraction in denser medium be more than the critical angle for the pair of media when the light ray is travelling from rarer to denser medium?

Let light ray enters from rarer medium to denser medium .

Let i be angle of incidence in rarer medium and r be angle of refraction  in denser medium.

By law of refraction , we have ,  sin (i) / sin (r)  = μ  .............................(1)

where μ is refractive index of denser medium with respect to rarer medium .

When light ray emerges from denser medium to rarer medium , total internal reflection is taking place
when angle of incidence at denser medium exceeds critical angle C .

When light ray just grazes the interface of denser medium and rarer medium, i.e. at beginning of total internal reflection ,
we have

1 / sin(C)  = μ  ........................................(2)

if angle of refraction in eqn.(1) equals critical angle , then if we substitute r = C in eqn.(1) , by using eqn.(2) , we get

sin(i) =1  or  angle of incidence i = 90o

Hence when angle of refraction becomes critical angle , then angle of incidence reaches its maximum value 90o .

Hence angle of refraction can not exceed critical angle
