A man has only 20 paise coins and 25 paise coins in his purse. If he has 50 coins in all totaling Rs 11.25, how many coins of each type does he have?

Let the number of 20 paise coins = x and
number of 25 paise coins = y
Here, the total number of coins are 50.
Therefore, x + y = 50 ..............1)
Here, Total amount = Rs. 11.25 = 1125 paise ( Since, 1Rs = 100 paise)
→ 20x + 25y = 1125
→ 4x + 5y = 225 ...............2)
→ 4x + 5y = 225 ...............2)
After solving equation 1) and 2), we get
x = 25 and y = 25
Therefore, the number of 20 paise and 25 piase coins are 25 and 25 respectively.
