What will be the coulomb force between two charges, when the distance between them is reduced to half?

According to coulomb's law begin mathsize 11px style straight F space proportional to space 1 over straight r squared end style [where r is the distance between two charges] 

when the distance between them is reduced to half then force become,

begin mathsize 11px style straight F apostrophe space equals space fraction numerator 1 over denominator left parenthesis straight r divided by 2 right parenthesis squared end fraction space equals space 4 1 over straight r squared space equals space 4 straight F end style

Hence, the force between charges is increased by 4 times.
