Electric force F between two charges q1 and q2 is

F = K × ( q1  q2 ) / d2

where K = 1/(4πεo ) = 9 × 109 N m2 C-2 is Coulomb's constant .

Table below shows the electrostatic forces between two pair of charges as a function of distance between charges.

F1 is the force between 1 μC and 2 μC charges . F2 is the force between 2 μC and -3 μC charges .

Distance ( cm ) F1 ( N ) F2 ( N )
2 45.0000 -135.0000
3 20.0000 -60.0000
4 11.2500 -33.7500
5 7.2000 -21.6000
10 1.8000 -5.4000
20 0.4500 -1.3500
30 0.2000 -0.6000
40 0.1125 -0.3375
50 0.0720 -0.2160

Forces F1 and F2 are plotted below
