Expert Answer
1) The object is placed on the table. The rays from the object are incident on the glass slab. These rays get refracted towards the normal.
2) The rays then travel inside the slab and get refracted again. This time they are refracted away from the normal. But, the emergent ray is parallel to the incident ray.
3) Now, if we trace the path of the emergent ray back, then they meet at point O' which is closer to the observer than O.
