Range R of distance in jumping is given by

begin mathsize 14px style R space equals space fraction numerator u squared sin 2 theta over denominator g end fraction end style
where u is initial speed , θ is initial angle of jumping direction above horizontal and g is acceleration due to gravity.

If initial speed u and initial angle θ are same on earth and moon, then the range R of jumping length is inversely proportional to acceleration due to gravity.

Let ge is acceleration due to gravity on earth and gm is acceleration due to gravity on moon.

ge = 9.8 m/s2   ;

gm = 1.625 m/s2 ;

Let Rm and Re are range of jumping distances on moon and earth res[ectively.

Then we have

begin mathsize 14px style R subscript m over R subscript e equals space g subscript e over g subscript m space equals space fraction numerator 9.8 over denominator 1.625 end fraction space almost equal to 6 end style

Then range Rm of jumping distance on moon = 6 × 6 m = 36 m
