Figure shows the gravitational force ' mg ' acting on the disc when it is rolling on inclined plane without slipping .

Where m is mass of disc and g is acceleration due to gravity.

Weight or gravitational force mg is resolved into two components ,

(i) mg sin30 parallel to surface of inclined plane  and

(ii) mg cos30 normal to surface of inclined plane  .

Force component ( mg sin30 ) is giving linear acceleration for the centre of mass of disc.

Hence , linear acceleration = force / mass = ( mg sin30 ) / m = g sin30 = (1/2) g
