How to distinguish between haloalkanes and haloarenes by a test?

Distinguish test for haloalkanes and haloarenes:
Both haloalkanes and haloarenes contain halogen atom in their molecule.
To distinguish we used silver nitrate test.
Test:
Take 1ml of given compound in a test tube. Add 2ml of aqueous KOH and heat to boiling.
Cool the solution and acidified with dil. HNO3 then add few drops of AgNO3 solution and observed for any white precipitate.
1) Haloalkanes gives white precipitate
2) Haloarenes and haloalkenes do not give any white precipitate.
