International developments which took place in the world during the 1950s and 1960s:
- Emergence of the Cold War: The world during this period saw the emergence of the Cold War between USA and former USSR. This was a conflict of ideologies. While the USA was supporting capitalism, former USSR was supporting and spreading communist ideologies. This resulted in the Cold War between both countries and their allies.
- Collapse of Colonial Empires: Many countries became independent from the colonial rule during this period.
- Formation of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM): In opposition to the Cold War and the division of the world into two camps, NAM was formed in 1961. It opposed joining any of the two military alliances. India, Indonesia, Ghana, Yugoslavia and Egypt were the founding members of NAM.
