After 5 years, the age of father will be two times the age of the son. Write a linear equation in two variables to represent this statement.

Let father's present age be = x years

Son's present age = y years

After 5 years father's age will be = (x + 5) years

After 5 years son's age will be = (y + 5) years

According to the question:

x + 5 = 2(y + 5)

x + 5 = 2y + 10

x - 2y = 10 - 5

x - 2y = 5
