Maharashtra State Board Class 10 Social Science Part II Board Exam 2024 Post Paper Analysis - 26th March

The Maharashtra State Secondary Education Board (MSB board) class 10 board examinations started on 1st March 2024. Today, the students appeared for their last exam for the MSB class 10 board exam, i.e., Social Science Paper-II (Geography). The paper was for 2 hours. It started at 11 A.M. and finished at 1 P.M. Over 15 lakh students of class 10 appeared for the examination around the different schools affiliated with Maharashtra State Board for Secondary Education.

The 'last examination' excitement was seen among all the students. After their previous Social Science Paper-I examination, the students were pretty confident with their preparation. According to the students, the exam paper was of moderate difficulty. The exam paper was not lengthy, and the students were able to complete it within the allotted time. Let us have a closer look and analyse the MSB class 10 Social Science Paper-II (Geography) in detail. 

Question Paper Structure

The MSB class 10 Social Science examination is conducted in three parts: Social Science Paper-I for history and political science of 40 marks, Social Science Paper-II for geography of 40 marks and internal assessment of 20 marks. Here, we are analysing the Social Science Paper-II, which was conducted today, 26th March 2024.

The Social Science Paper-II followed the revised syllabus MSB board pattern that includes various kinds of questions based on the prescribed geography textbooks. 

Let us get a detailed review of the paper structure.

The exam paper was similar to and followed the pattern of the specimen papers and previous years' MSB board question papers. As per the MSB board pattern, the question paper consisted of 7 questions. All the questions were from the Geography syllabus for the academic year 2023-2024.

Question 1 included MCQ-based questions. Students had to attempt all the questions. The question was of 4 marks.

Question 2 consisted of matching-based questions. Students had to match the correct answers to the given options. The question was of 4 marks.

Question 3 included question-answers. Students had to give short answers in one line for the given subparts. This question was of 4 marks. Students had to answer any four of the subparts.

Question 4 consisted of two parts: 4(A) was the map work. Students were required to mark any four of the given features on the map provided. 4(B) was map-based questions. Students were required to answer any four questions based on the map given. The complete question was of 8 marks, with each sub-question for 4 marks

Question 5  included reasoning-based questions. The question was of 6 marks. Students had to attempt any two of the given subparts.

Question 6 comprised two questions: 6(A) included data-based questions and 6(B) included graph-based questions. Students were required to attempt either 6(A) or 6(B). This question was for 4 marks

Question 7 included detailed-answered questions. Students had to attempt any two of the subparts. The question was of 8 marks.

The marks obtained in this examination will impact the students' scores in their overall social science percentage and their final percentage. Students who had been thorough with the chapters and had practised the previous years' question papers can easily score good marks in the exam.
