The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) conducted the ICSE Class 10 Chemistry Semester 1 board paper today, 13th December 2021. The paper was based entirely on the reduced syllabus prescribed by CISCE. It was yet another scoring question paper with well-practised common questions through the various pre-boards. The exam was 40 marks, and the time allotted for the examination was 60 minutes, and all questions were compulsory.

So, here we decode the ICSE Class 10 Chemistry Semester 1 Paper for 2021-22 with its final review and analysis.

Question Paper Structure-

For 2021-22, ICSE followed a reduced syllabus released on its official website. The question paper comprises multiple-choice questions from chapters' Periodic Properties and Variation of Properties, Chemical Bonding, Study of Acids, Bases and Salts, Analytical Chemistry, Mole concept and stoichiometry and Electrolysis.

Graphical Analysis of Unit-wise Marks Distribution (ICSE Chemistry Semester 1 2021-22)-

Number of Questions per unit-

From the above graphical analysis, it is clear that units Periodic Properties and Variation of Properties, Chemical Bonding, Study of Acids, Bases and Salts and Electrolysis carried most of the weightage. From unit Periodic table and Acid, bases carried maximum questions whereas Analytical Chemistry, Mole concept and stoichiometry had considerably less and it was asked collectively for eight marks.

Students and Experts Feedback-

We got some mixed reactions from students. According to some students, the chemistry paper was as expected, and they may get full marks. Moreover, a few of the questions have been difficult for some students. According to experts, it was a straightforward to average paper.
