The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the Physics exam for Class 12 today, 10th December 2021. This year witnessed many changes as far as exam structure, and paper pattern is concerned. After considering all the parameters, the CBSE board decided to examine the Term-wise pattern for 2021-22. So, let us take a deep dive into CBSE Class 12 Physics Term 1 Paper Series SSJ/1 – Set 4.

Question Paper Pattern

Let us look at the question paper structure for 2021-22.

CBSE Class 12 Physics Term 1 exam was 35 marks, and the time allotted for this paper was 90 minutes. The physics paper consisted of three sections. All questions were MCQ type questions.

Section A had 25 questions, out of which 20 were attempted. This section is the basis for the conceptual and understanding type of questions.
Section B had 24 questions from which attempting 20 questions were must, and this section is the basis on application type, Assertion–Reason type of questions.
Section C had six questions, out of which five were expected to be solved, and this section was based entirely on Case–study based MCQ type of questions.

The chapter' Current Electricity' had the highest weightage of marks, followed by 'Moving charges and Magnetism'. Chapter' Electromagnetic Induction' and 'Electrostatic potential and capacitance' had the same weightage. Total ten questions asked from chapter' Electric charges and Fields' giving it 18% weightage of the overall paper. Moreover, as usual, the least weightage was given to chapter' Magnetism and Matter'.

Key highlights

Total nine diagram-based questions were asked on paper, making it a perfect opportunity for the students to score more comparatively less time.
Question Paper followed the pattern of NCERT and sample papers.
Section B included numerical problems; students had to do the calculation, and thus was a bit time-consuming.
Section C, which included case study based MCQs were the easiest one.
According to students, the paper was a bit lengthy.
As per experts, the paper was slightly tricky for an average student, and more weightage was given to numerical problem-solving skills than just remembering type questions.
Any score between 25 to 30 out of 35 is an excellent expected score estimate.

In conclusion, the CBSE Class 12 Physics Term 1 paper was slightly tricky for an average student. Students who had practised solving numerical would not find this paper challenging. However, time management may have been an issue in this lengthy yet straightforward Physics paper.
