Why do we consider earth to be point mass knowing that mass of earth is uniform?

there is no such thing as a point mass in the universe.
even an atom or an electron has a density.
it depends on what frame we are talking about.
eg. earth can be considered as a point mass in universe where distnces are very large and much bigger things are present.
