Expert Answer:

Electron shielding is also termed as screening effect and atomic shielding. In the atom, there is an arrangement of electrons in different shell. Some electrons lie near the nucleus and some are far away from nucleus. The atom’s electronic configuration is given by Aufbau principle. According to this principle, all the electrons are ordered in increasing order of energy.

If electrons are ordered in different levels, there will be a greater attraction of inner electron towards nucleus whereas outer electron will have lower nucleus charge as compared to inner electron.
