What is the difference between electric field and electromotive force? Are they dependent on each other, how?

Expert Answer:

The difference is in their conceptual definitions, their physical dimentions, their units. They are dependent on each other.
Electric field = Electric field/test charge.
More formally, emf is the external work expended per unit of charge to produce an electric potential difference across two open-circuited terminals. The electric potential difference is created by separating positive and negative charges, thereby generating an electric field.
