Expert Answer
Let us assume a single turn coil of radius r is placed coaxially with another coil of radius R as shown in figure.
Let R > > r .
Let I1 is the current passing through the outer coil of radius R .
Change in current from 0 to I1 in outer coil induces current I2 in the inner coil .
Mutual inductance M of this setup is defined as
φ2 = M I1..............................(1)
where φ2 is the flux of magnetic field passing through the area of inner coil .
since R > > r , let us consider flux of magnetic field due to current I1 is uniform over inner coil area
If B is magnetic field induction in the area of inner coil due to current I1 in outer coil, then
φ2 = B × r22 = × r2 .................................(2)
By comparing eqn.(1) and eqn.(2) , we get
