Expert Answer
when an object is thrown with a velocity u in a direction that makes angle θ with horizontal ,
then the object travels in a two dimensional plane ,so that it gets vertical displacement and horizontal displacement.
Vertical displacement is subjected to downward uniform acceleration in gravitational field.
Velocity component in horizontal motion is unaffected by gravitational field.
Hence this combination of constant horizontal velocity component and vertical motion that is subjected to gravitation
makes the trajectory of object in a parabolic path.
This kind of two-dimensional motion is known as projectile motion .
