NEET Class neet Answered
Two projectiles are projected at angles ( theta ) and ( π/2-theta) to the horizontal respectively with same speed 20 m / s . One of them rises 10 m higher than the other . Find the angles of projection . ( Take g = 10m/s^2)

Expert Answer
Let h1 be the maximum height , when projection angle is θ
h1 = [ u2 / (2g) ] sin2θ ......................... ( 1 )
where u is projection velocity and g is acceleration due to gravity
Let h2 be the maximum height , when projection angle is [ (π/2) - θ ]
h2 = [ u2 / (2g) ] sin2[ (π/2) - θ ] = [ u2 / (2g) ] cos2θ ......................... ( 2 )
If h2 = h1 + 10 , then from eqn.(1) and eqn.(2) , we get
[ u2 / (2g) ] cos2θ = [ u2 / (2g) ] sin2θ + 10
[ u2 / (2g) ] { cos2θ - sin2θ } = 10
[ u2 / (2g) ] cos(2θ) = 10
If we substitute u = 20 m/s and g = 10 m/s2 in above expression, then we get , θ = 30o
