So, in thi question, we need to find the area which is between circle and parabola. However, by integration, we would only get the area under the curve, and so for this reason, if we want the area of the the region common to the parabola and circle, we will have to take the entire area enclosed by the circle in the first and fourth quadrant and subtract out the area under the parabola.
In a problem, it will always be mentioned which area you need to find. Like here, they have mentioned that the area needs to be interior to the parabola. Sometimes, they might mention that you need to find the area of the common region or of the region which is not common. So, yeah, the question would explicitly mention which area is required to be calculated.
