We will use the principle of conservation of energy.
The initial kinetic energy is K.E1 = ½mv2.
The kinetic energy far away from earth is = K.E2 = ½mv'2
The initial potential energy on earth's surface is P.E1 = -GMm/R
The final potential energy far away from earth is zero.
Thus, using the conservation of energy we have
