Slopes of X and Y Axis
Asked by harshil92 | 21st Feb, 2010, 06:37: PM
The formula m1m2 = -1, is used for NONZERO VALUES OF SLOPES TO BE EXACT. However it does satisfy the relation,
Let's pick a infinite line, our x axis with slope ZERO and ask the question what'll be the slope of line perpendicular to this line.
mxmy = -1
my = -1/mx = -1/0 = - ∞ ,and that is y axis. Hence x and y axis are perpendicular to each other as we know.
