Energy gained by charge q when it is near a plate of potential V is  ( qV ) .
 
This gain in energy is in the form of kinetic energy.
 
hence we have

begin mathsize 14px style v space equals space square root of left parenthesis space 2 space cross times space q over m cross times V space right parenthesis end root end style
Above expression gives speed of charged particle if it gains energy from potenial V of plate
