is it asked to derive formulas in cbse boards like shortest distance b/w two skew lines.

Usually, untill and unless something is given in NCERT, it is not asked. However, since this is Boards and you are never 100% sure of what might come in the exam, so we would not recommend you to leave any question. Everything depends upon the panel of teachers who set the exam and so you should ideally be ready for anything and everything. 
 
And definitely, there are some formulas which are asked in the CBSE exam, so it is quite possible that they might ask for the shortest distance between 2 skew lines also.
