In a household five tube lights of 40 volt each are used for 5 hours and electric press of 500 volt for 4 hours everyday. Calculate the total energy consumed by the tubelight and press in a month of 30 days

Unit of power rating of electrical appliances is Watt not volt.
 
It is assumed  4 tubelights of 40 W each is used 5 hours  everyday and 500 W electrical press is used 4 hours every day .
 
It is required to get energy consumption  in a month of 30 days.

Energy consumption  of Tubelight in a month = 5 × 40 × 5 × 30 = 30000 W-hr  = 30 kWhr
 
Energy consumption  of electrical press  in a month = 500 × 4 × 30 = 60000 W-hr  = 60 kWhr
 
Total energy consumption = 90 kWhr
 
1 kWhr = 3.6 MJ
 
90 kWhr = 90 × 3.6 MJ = 324 MJ
