CBSE Class 11-science Answered
How pressure changes with the change of height..?????
Asked by ravikantmanchanda | 10 Nov, 2015, 12:09: AM
Expert Answer
Pressure = Force/ area
Force = mg.
g is acceleration due to gravity.
As height increases the acceleration due to gravity decreases. Since most of the atmosphere's molecules are held close to the earth's surface by the force of gravity, air pressure decreases rapidly at first, then more slowly at higher levels. So, pressure decreases with height.
