Let u be the velocity of bullet when it is fired from the gun.
Time taken t for the bullet to travel a distance 60 m , t = 60 / u
Vertical distance h travelled in a time t is given as, h = (1/2) g t2
Since it is given that h = 8 cm , we have , 8 × 10-2 = (1/2) × 9.8 × ( 60 / u )2
From above equation, we get u ≈ 470 m/s
Time of flight t = 60 /470 = 0.13 s
