Find the square of the following numbers: 1) 52 2) 65
Asked by Topperlearning User | 04 Jun, 2014, 01:23: PM Expert Answer

1) 52

The number is of the form 5a, where a = 2.

We will use the rule (5a)2 = (25 + a) x 100 + a2

Hence, (52)2 = (25 + 2) x 100 + (2)2 = 27 x 100 + 4 = 2700 + 4 = 2704

2) 65

The number is of the form a5, where a = 6. Hence, (65)2 = 4225
