Does drinking cold water trigger bacterial/viral action

Expert Answer:

Doctors over the world agree that sore throat and colds are due to germs, viruses and bacteria, not because of eating cold foods. So though many people believe that drinking cold water causes throat infection, there is no scientific evidence to prove this. However, it is better to avoid cold water when you are suffering from cold.
