CBSE Class 12-science Answered

Consider a 342 μF capacitor charged to 1250 V in a defibrillator.

When charged to 1250 V, how much energy is stored in the capacitor? 9.60×102 J (in J)

Expert Answer
Energy stored in a capacitor = (1/2) C V2

where C is Capacitance , V is voltage across capacitor plates .

Energy stored in capacitor = 0.5 × 342 × 10-6 ×1250 × 1250 = 267.19 J
