CBSE Class 12-science Answered

Assertion :- CaCl2, CaSO4, Ca(HSO4)2 & Ca(OH)2 will cause hardness in water. Reason :- All soluble salts of Ca+2 and Mg+2 cause hardness.

Expert Answer

Water is said to be hard when it contains bicarbonates (CO3-2), chlorides (Cl-) or sulphates of calcium and magnesium.

Given assertion is wrong because of Ca(HSO4)2 & Ca(OH)2 will not cause hardness.
