It is assumed the motion is under uniform acceleration

Displacement S made by the particle from t = 1 s  to t = 3 s is given as

S = 10 - (-18) = 28 m

Displacement S made in a time duration Δt is given as

S = ( u × Δt ) + [ (1/2) × a × ( Δt )2 ]

where u = 10 m/s is initial speed and a is acceleration

Hence by substituting values in above expression, we get

28 = ( 10 × 2 ) + [ (1/2) × a × 4 ]

we get acceleration a = 4 m/s2 from above expression .

Position at t = 5 s is determined from he displacement made from t =3 s to t = 5 s.

S = ( 10 × 2 ) + [ (1/2) × 4 × 22 ] = 28 m

Postion x at t = 5 s is  ,  x = ( 18 + 28 ) m = 46 m
