A disc of mass 50grams slides with initial velocity =0 down an inclined plane set at an angle 30 degrees with horizontal. After covering 50cm along the horizontal plane, the disc stops. Find the work done by friction over the whole distance,coefficient of friction =0.15

force of friction =
where μ = cofficient of friction
and N = normal rection.
 Now
work done = force * displacement
               = 0.15*0.25 * (.5 m)
               = 0.15*0.125 Joules
               = 0.01875 J

During calculation of acceleration due to gravity above the surface of earth if we assume that there is an external force opposite to that of Earth's gravity then the cos angle will be 180 between the two forces which is negative(-1), if we put the value in the equation of dw = F.dx then the final value of potential energy is positive which is not possible.how and why??
