Expert Answer
Hi Madhuchhand,
Regeneration is a type of asexual reproduction. In this process the organism has the ability to generate lost or damaged body parts. If a Planaria is cut into small pieces, then each piece develops into a new individual.
Regeneration differs from reproduction in the sense that, regeneration can take place from any part of the organism, example cut tail of a lizard. However reproduction is a process in which new organism is formed through specialized cells called gametes. Also regeneration does not necessarily give rise to a new individual, whereas reproduction always produces new individuals from the parent organism.
