Why arent there vacuoles in the animal cells? Even if they occur, under what circumstances ?

Vacuoles are usually present in animal cells. But they are small and temporary. They carry out various functions like osmoregulation or digestion. Accordingly they are called contractile vacuoles and food vacuole.
