Expert Answer
For projectile motion, maximum range is obtained when an object is projected at angle 45°.
Maximum range is given by,
( for eqn.(1), refer NCERT text book for XI, part-1, chapter 4, under the heading projectile motion)
where v0 is initial velocity of projectile and g is acceleration due to gravity. We are given that maximum range for a person is 100 m
hence
if the same person is throwing stone vertically with same speed v0, then the maximum height h reached by the stone is given by
