Expert Answer
The colour of LiCl crystals in excess of lithium is Pink.
In excess of lithium, when crystals of LiCl are heated Cl - Cl ions from crystal diffuse on the surface and
combine with ionised Li to form LiCl.
The released unpaired electrons occupy the anionic sites known as F-centers.
Greater the number of F-centers greater is the intensity of colour.
The excitation of these electrons by absorption of light energy results in the pink colour of LiCl crystals.
