There are so many bacterias and germs present in the mouth when we have food they react with the food produced acids which if present in our mouth it causes tooth decay also harmful to the enamel.
Toothpaste has mild bases like sodium fluoride, sodium carbonate etc. are reacts with this acid produce by germs and bacterias and neutralize it, so that our teeth are clean and healthy.
