CBSE Class 11-science Answered

PLEASE SIR ANSWER MY DOUBT QUICKLY. ACCORDING TO PHYSICS ALL OBJECTS FALL ON THE EARTH AT THE SAME TIME AND AT SAME RATE. BUT WHEN WE SEE VISUALLY WE COME TO A NOTON THAT HEAVIER OBJECTS FALL FASTER THAN LIGHTER OBJECTS. IS IT TRUE? GALILEO DISCOVERED THROUGH THIS EXPERIMENT THAT THE OBJECTS FELL WITH THE SAME ACCELERATION, PROVING HIS PREDICTION TRUE, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME DISPROVING ARISTOTLE'S THEORY OF GRAVITY (WHICH STATES THAT OBJECTS FALL AT SPEED PROPORTIONAL TO THEIR MASS). WHICH SCIENTIST IS SAYING THE RIGHT THING? I FIND EVEN MY TEACHERS SO CONFUSING IN THEIR EXPLANATION.

Gravitational acceleration acting on an object is independent of mass of object.

If we drop two objects of masses m1 and m2  from a height h , if  m1 >  m2 ,
then these two objects reach the ground at same time , provided air resistance is not affecting the motion of falling objects.

if the two masses dropped are iron balls,  say of masses 100 g  and  200 g, they will reach the ground same time.

Suppose if one is iron ball and other one is a cotton, then air resistance will affect the cotton.
Cotton will take more time to reach the ground in comparision with iron object.

If you want to observe this concept, do experiment. Go to a high tower building of height around 10 m,
drop solid objects of different masses, ask your friend at ground to see that these objects are reaching the ground at same time
