in the hypothethical graph given between potential energy(on y axis) and distance(on x axis) what is the direction of force in second and third quadrant?

Hi Devansh,

The force is given as 

begin mathsize 12px style straight F equals negative dU over dx end style

Therefore, if we draw a graph of PE v/s x, then the negative of slope of the graph will be the force.

So, in first as well as the second quadrant slope is negative, and so force will be positive.

Therefore, the force will be in the direction of distance in both the quadrants.
