How is the transfer of substances possible in a cell?

Answer:

CO2 and water move in and out of the cell through diffusion. CO2 and water are of very small size, hence they diffuse readily through the phospholipid layer of cell membrane. In diffusion, they move from a region of their higher concentration to a region of their lower concentration. The diffusion of water molecules is called osmosis.
