Expert Answer
A double rainbow is formed when there the ray of light suffers secondary total internal reflection inside the droplet of rain or moist air.
Moonbow occurs when the Moon's light is reflected and refracted from the water droplets in the air.
There has to be a perfect situation in the weather for reflection and refraction to occur at the same time.
Also, moon has to be full or partially full and lower in the sky with respect to horizon than usual.
