Height of the tower?

Expert Answer
The formula to get answer :- " v2 = u2 - 2gh " , where v is final speed, u is initial speed,
g is acceleration due to gravity and h is distance travelled.
If initial velocity is u and final velocity is 3u, then we have (3u)2 = u2 - 2gh or h = -4u2/g
negative sign shows the net distance travelled is below the point where stone is thrown up.
This distance travelled is the height of the tower.
Hence height of the tower = 4u2/g
