Tension forces acting on the string is marked in figure.
As can be seen from figure, net force acting on block-A (left side block) is 3T.
Net force acting on block-B is 2T.
 
since Tension force T equals applied force 5 N, acceleration of block A = 3T/5 = (3×5)/5 = 3 m/s2
 
Acceleration of block-B = 2T/5 = (2×5)/5 = 2 m/s2
 
since both blocks are connected tightly to string through pulleys, movemnt of any point on the string is
due to the movement of both blocks, displacemnts are getting added in same direction.
 
Hence point-P moves with acceleration = 3+2 = 5 m/s2
