If the oscillator is a mechanical oscillator and if it is placed in liquid like water, it produces waves that travels in liquid medium
 
If the oscillator is electronic circuit, then electomagnetic waves are produced and transmitted to surrounding air/vaccuum through inductance coils or antenna
